Derek A. Moore CEO

Derek has been serving as a financial advisor to an expanding community of family, friends and colleagues for over 14 years. Since beginning his career at the age of 24 he has continually strived to develop a career that draws on his passion for trust based personal relationships. Those qualities were first introduced to Derek as a high school and collegiate athlete. This lifelong dedication to team sports has since transformed into an enthusiasm for his role as each client’s head coach. He is committed to the core responsibility of producing a financial playbook that leads each individual, family or business towards its own unique financial touchdown. The importance of fostering a collaborative team dynamic on the financial playing field with clients and colleagues alike, ultimately led to the formation of Five Peaks Capital Group, LLC. At Five Peaks CG Derek believes in applying a holistic approach to each financial strategy. He has practical expertise with process based financial planning, investment portfolio development, illustrating unseen opportunities within Executive Benefit platforms and the application of tax advantaged strategies for the affluent. 

Derek’s extensive work with families and businesses throughout the Front Range, particularly within the oil & gas and medical professions has led to an expanding clientele base in Southern California, Texas and several other states. The common denominator throughout these markets is Derek’s fundamental desire to create strategies that help protect, build and ultimately pass on a lifetime of wealth to future generations.

Derek’s professional performance has been recognized with numerous awards locally and nationally. Among these accolades is an ongoing presence within the *Million Dollar Round Table, including appointment to the 2017 Court of the Table. He has caught the attention of New York Life as he was named the 2014 Associate of the Year in Colorado. Furthermore, he is a member of NAIFA and has served as a member of New York Life’s Colorado Board of Directors for the past 8 years.

In his free time, Derek and his wife Michelle love to travel, including following their alma mater, the Colorado Buffaloes, wherever its football season may lead. In the spirit of giving back Derek, Michelle and the Five Peaks family support the local charitable efforts of the The Adoption Exchange, National Sports Center for the Disabled, Denver Rescue Mission, and MaxFund. Carey D. Sullivan CIO

Carey D Sullivan is co-owner and Chief Investment Officer of the Five Peaks Capital Group.  He is responsible for setting the Investment Policy statements and maintaining the asset allocation for the firms clients, as well as performing manager due diligence on the available managers to create the firms select list.  Carey operates through the firms 5 key tenants of Performance, Diligence, Trust, Respect and Discipline in working with all clients.  He concentrates is time with helping business owners and real estate professionals reach their personal, business and estate planning goals through a disciplined educational process.

When Carey isn't helping his clients reach their financial goals; he enjoys being on the golf course; snowboarding in the mountains and spending as much time with his beautiful wife Leah, his two children Sloan and Carson and his black lab Kona.

Chris J. Grimes, CFP®, RICP® Partner

Chris has over a decade of experience assisting clients with their financial planning needs. As a Certified Financial Planner, Chris helps business owners, professionals, and families understand their current financial state and the best route in achieving their desired financial goals. His strategy involves helping clients maintain diverse financial portfolios throughout the course of their lives.

Chris started his finance journey in 2007 as a High Net Worth client service specialist with Charles Schwab. While there he specialized in assisting customers with trading securities and educating them on market and planning strategies. He received his Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude, focusing in Financial Management from the University of Colorado, Denver, in 2008. Chris has obtained his FINRA series 7 and series 63 licenses and began working with the New York Life insurance company in 2011.

While his biggest pleasure is assisting his clients with their financial goals, Chris also enjoys camping, fishing, snowboarding, woodworking, and four wheeling. Due to his love of the outdoors, Chris is also a passionate proponent of recycling, alternative energy, and preserving the environment. He and his wife Brier reside in Arvada, Colorado with their two children, Jocelyn and Rowyn, and their various family pets.

Kathleen Phillips, MBA Financial Service Professional

Kathleen started her career as a financial services professional in 2017 after her father suddenly passed away leaving no financial plans in place. That experience left her with a renewed sense of determination. She would not let any other family go through the devastation that her family experienced. Today, Kathleen stands for vulnerability and passion. Sharing her story and using her passion to educate families and business professionals, she strives to empower others to take the necessary steps to achieve their goals.

In 2013, after graduating from Madonna University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Kathleen left her home state of Michigan and headed to Colorado. Here in Colorado, she decided to continue her education and completed CU Denver’s Professional MBA program, with specialization in Entrepreneurship. She uses her degrees to think more strategically as a financial professional to ensure her clients’ needs are met.

Kathleen has a passion for giving back and staying involved in the community. In her free time, Kathleen volunteers for a number of organizations, with a majority of her volunteer hours dedicated to Special Olympics Colorado, as a part of their Young Professionals Board. Through her partnership with The New York Life Foundation, Kathleen has presented the Grief Sensitive School Initiative to over fifty schools in the Denver area. Equipping faculty with tools and resources to provide a safe space for grieving students. When she is not volunteering, you can likely find her playing sand volleyball, doing CrossFit, in the mountains snowboarding, or enjoying a good hockey game.
